Sidebar opened in 2015 with the mission of bringing the Texan way of smoking meat to Sumter, SC. All of our meats are smoked inhouse on our 1,000 gallon smoker, Big Daddy, or our newest addition, the 500 gallon smoker we like to call lil smokey. Meet the Chef
Kyle Rhodes, originally from St. Louis, Missouri, just moved to Sumter with his wife, Tiffany. Relocating by way of Charlotte, North Carolina. He moved to Charlotte to attend Johnston & Wales University earning his culinary arts degree. Before journeying to Charlotte, he graduated from Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville with a bachelors in business management. Kyle is well versed in multiple cuisines, techniques, and flavors after many years from fine dining to fast-paced casual. When he’s not in the kitchen, he enjoys playing ice hockey, watching the St. Louis Blue’s, and hiking. He is looking forward to calling Sumter home.
